Hi, I’m Deb from Seeking Lavender Lane and today I’m going to be sharing with you my Fall Mason Jar Family Craft!
Is fall in the air near you? I swear mid-August is as hot as it can be…Fall seems only an arm reach away. I get that itch just as the weather is getting a little too hot and I am more than ready for school to begin.
Coming up with creative Fall family crafts is usually my first little bit of getting ready for the season. It’s a way to get your mind ready for Fall, without jumping fully into it either…I’m not buying pumpkin spiced lattes or anything yet!

So here is one of the first crafts that is getting me started, a cute Fall Mason Jar Family Craft, that is really a fun project you can do with the whole family, yes hubby too! There was no baseball game on that night, so I got a chance to include him on this one.
Fall Mason Jar Family Craft
I don’t know about you, but some crafts can be a little too intricate for the kids to get involved with, so this one was a perfect way to keep the kids busy for a while, pull the whole family in–to hang out and laugh together, and with a few finishing touches by mom, can be pretty enough to display on the mantel!
Supplies Needed:
- Mason Jars (4)
- Paint (I chose chalk paint, but you can use acrylic or any kind you would like)
- Some twine or string
- Foam brushes
- F-A-L-L letters (I purchased mine through Hobby Lobby)
- Hot glue
- Burlap or Ribbon
- Happy children
Directions:
Step 1: After putting tons of newspaper out to protect your kitchen table, paint the Mason jars.
Yep you caught my hubby, he is definitely on his phone!
Step 2: After letting paint dry over night or at least for a few hours, hot glue Burlap around the center of the mason jar.
Step 3: Hot glue or hang letters from twine over the burlap
Step 4: Add some pretty flowers or spices or anything you wish to your mason jars.
Step 5: Talk with your kids about which ones they made…and enjoy these pretty (simple) mason jar decor on your FALL mantel!
You could even add some LED lights to the finished project!
It’s that easy! So fun, so simple, and so pretty…you can’t go wrong! I just loved doing these with the kids…and of course if you have a 3-year-old like me, you may need to paint over some of the messy spots on the jar. Not too much though because you want to enjoy the fact that your kids made these with you and it was a fun Fall mason jar family craft project. These would also be great for DIY homemade gift ideas!
Speaking of kids, here’s how to keep your home looking beautiful with kids.
