With retailers like Amazon and Overstock and many of the physical, offline brick-and-mortar stores being online now, it’s becoming easier and easier to shop online and it’s why online shopping is popular.
And with good reason.
Now with Black Friday deals even being online, many people are skipping waiting in long lines and fighting crowds for that one single toy that makes it all worth it. Here are my favorite reasons to shop online, and why I think consumers prefer online shopping overall, rather than in a store…
37 Reasons to Shop Online
- It saves me money. With places like RetailMeNot and coupon codes everywhere you turn, most of the time, I score way better deals online than in a store.
- It saves me gas. With gas at over $3/gallon, I let my fingers do the walking. 🙂
- It saves me time. There have been times that I have paced a store several times still not finding what I’m looking for. Has that ever happened to you? I can easily just search for the things online.
- It saves me stress. Although my kids are really good in the stores, I wouldn’t say it’s not more time consuming carting them around while trying to concentrate on getting the best deals possible.
- I’ll also be honest enough to say that every time I go to pay and I’m making sure my purchases are rung up correctly, sliding my rewards card, using coupons if I have them, the kids love to want my full attention, which brings me to my next reason…
- There’s no waiting in line!
- I can take my time to really think about if I want to purchase something or not. I am not rushed.
- I’m much less tempted to buy things I don’t need. No wondering around aisle’s where everything seriously looks so good!
- I don’t have to get dressed up. I can shop in my pj’s if I want!
- I can get cash back by using Ebates.
- There’s no reason to have to use the public restrooms, and did you know that sometimes they close them to clean! Ahh. I don’t clean mine, so I don’t have to worry about it. No TOTALLY kidding!
- I don’t catch everyone else’s germy illnesses! Way back when I used to shop Walmart, every single time I’d go to that store, I’d catch a cold. I kid you not. It was so frustrating.
- I don’t have to load a bunch of bags in your car, then carry them from your car into your house. It’s also known that weighing your car down (the heavier it is) the more gas you use!
- No achy feet if you have to shop in your high heels or uncomfortable shoes when your in the area the store is in.
- It’s safer. Did you know that one of the most popular spots for bad men to hang out is in shopping centers parking lots.
- Big, awkward, or even heavy items are delivered right to your door. I remember trying to stuff in things in my car because it was on clearance and barely fitting it, only to find out, the clearance was online too!
- I avoid panhandlers, bell ringers, stores asking you to sign up for a credit card.
- I don’t have to battle the parking lot and get beat out by rude people, only to circle the aisles again, looking for a spot while trying not to kill a pedestrian. Oh wait, that may be under the stress category. 😉
- It’s just as easy to keep track of what I spend, even better sometimes, as I’m emailed a receipt. I have a folder in my email labeled “orders.” Since there’s a search feature in my email, it makes it super easy.
- I have less impulse buys.
- I can schedule companies like Amazon’s Subscribe & Save and SlickDeals to send me my products when I need them automatically. I love these programs because they not only save me time, but also money. ePantry has a referral program where you earn $10 for each friend and Amazon’s program is 15% off for your items in the Subscribe & Save. These little tricks save me a LOT!
- I can easily price compare several stores (including SlickDeals) with just a few clicks of my mouse, rather than driving all over town.
- It’s way easier to check reviews and research products before I buy.
- I can check out the product manual or get FAQ’s answered about a product right then and there.
- I avoid pick-pocketers or chances to lost my wallet, purse, debit card, kids, etc.
- It’s super simple to buy someone a gift. Either a gift card and it’s emailed to them, or a gift and they ship it for me, saving me the shipping cost! I also save money on gift supplies like wrapping paper.
- I have more choices online. While stores can only carry so many different items at once, online, the sky is the limit. As long as it’s produced, you’re good to go.
- Likewise, fewer things are ‘out of stock’ and I can pre-order things so much easier.
- I save trees by not having a bunch of paper receipts.
- Call me crazy, but I don’t always like to have the same things as everyone else. One size does not fit all, especially when it comes to home decor. I like to buy custom made vinyl wall art, and I can get them cheaper online and custom made. I’ve seen them in the store and there’s just no comparison.
- I don’t have to shop in the bad weather if I don’t want to.
- My kids don’t get super bored going through the store trying to find the best deals.
- Getting a package in the mail is like Christmas, especially when you forgot what you ordered. I know, I’m a big kid. 🙂
- I can shop whenever I want. No store is closing in 10 minutes. It can be at midnight if I want.
- I save myself some embarrassment. Sometimes there are just, uh, things you need to uh, buy, and sometimes there’s not always another woman checker available.
- Most items I purchase include free shipping. If they don’t, it still comes out to be a better deal.
- MY FAVORITE: THERE’S NO SALES TAX at many stores online!
