I’m a quality girl. Okay, okay, I’m a brand snob. Outside of some foods, I really don’t buy anything BUT brand names. I’ve learned the hard way that for ME, I end up spending much more in the long run when I purchase lesser quality items. My garden hose story was the straw that broke the camel’s back and I haven’t went back since. I find that since buying brand names, I buy LESS because I replace things less often, so in the long haul, I’m saving more.
Maybe your experience is different, but it’s something that’s really worked well for me these past few years. In fact, I broke my own rule and purchased a lower quality ice cream scoop last month and of course it broke within a week. I have a mind to take it back to the store and show them, but it was only $2. Not worth my time to stand in line. See what I get!
5 Ways to Save Money on Name Brand Clothing Fashion
Plan Your Shopping Trip in Advance
If you know what you need to shop for in advance and where you will be going, you can check online for coupons and discounts. Some great places to check are the stores’ website itself or their Facebook page. Google search the name of the store and also make sure you sign up to be on their email list. You can often do this online or if you can’t find that on their website, ask at the stores’ checkout. A lot of times you will even get a discount on your purchases that day for just signing up! Be sure to check other sites like Retail Me Not and Coupon Cabin.
Learn Where to Shop for Discounts
If you don’t mind digging through piles of clothes and racks, you might want to check out stores like Burlington Coat Factory and T.J. Maxx. Often times you can find famous name brand clothes, purses and accessories for 60%-65% off. The only downfall is you have to hunt and search for your size and you may not find exactly what you want. For those that are addicted to wearing name brand clothes and aren’t to picky about what you are looking for you will find some awesome deals! I usually like to hit those stores once every 3 months so they have fresh stock for me to look through and I grab out of season things as well and set it aside.
Shop ReSale, Consignment Stores, and Yard Sales
Gently used clothes are often a great way to save money on name brand clothes. Check your local area to see what options you have available. Always check the clothing for stains, missing buttons, and rips before buying. The really good thing about buying gently used clothing is when you try it on, it’s already been washed and dried so you don’t have to worry about the shrinkage factor when trying to find the perfect size! Likewise, you can score some great name brand clothing at yard sales for a buck or two! When yard saleing, always hit the nicer neighborhoods of your town. I never even bother with anything but the nicest parts of town because there’s so many, the stuff is better, and the prices are fantastic.
Check Other Online Possibilities
There are tons of places online where you can find gently used clothing including eBay and local Facebook groups. People from certain areas and towns will open a Facebook group where local people can sell their gently used clothing and household items. People will post a picture of the item with a price listed and if you are interested you comment under the post and work on setting up a time to meet. A couple of things you want to remember about these groups, is when meeting to buy a product ALWAYS meet in a safe place. Try to meet in a place that has plenty of people like a grocery store or gas station parking lot. My favorite are banks. They have cameras!!!! DO NOT meet them in a dark, secluded areas (always think safety first). You also want to keep in mind that if the deal seems to good to be true, you just may be purchasing a knock-off.
Shop End of Season Clearance
Shop the end of season clearance for great items to wear the following year. Most of us adults wear pretty much the same size year after year so you should have an easy time grabbing your great deals the year before. When buying kids items the year before grab a size or two bigger for them to give them room to grow. When guessing on sizes for kids, it’s always best to guess a higher than too low.
