Using coupons can seem overwhelming especially for beginners. Many people tell me they do not have the time to coupon. Below you can find easy ways to save yourself money without extreme couponing and having to spend hours clipping coupons.
Foundational Couponing Principles
Groceries can be a huge expense each month, especially if you have a large family to feed. Understanding where you can cut costs will help you save money. Using coupons will take you a little extra time when preparing to go shopping, but there are ways that you can plan ahead to save you time and money.
Start small
Even if you are only able to print or clip a few coupons, it will save you money. Determine the amount of time you can spend each week or month couponing and utilize your time effectively.
Try to save coupons for items that you know you purchase regularly
You do not need to clip every single coupon that you come across. Set aside the coupons for items that your family uses on a daily basis. It can be tempting to use a coupon on items that you do not normally buy because you would be saving money. This can lead to overspending.
Organize your coupons
This can be as simple as putting the coupons into an envelope. Make sure you keep the envelope in your car, purse, or wallet. This way you have it whenever you go shopping.
Make a shopping list and stick to it
I know this sounds easy, but sometimes it can be hard to resist an impulse purchase. Only buy the items on your list or the items that you have planned ahead and clipped a coupon for. This will help prevent you from going over your budget.
Saving a few dollars each shopping trip will quickly add up.
