It’s easy to feel comforted when everything is going well in your life. But, what do you do when you’re faced with challenges and heartache?
The Bible speaks to us about His immense care for us when we are broken-hearted. Here are 30 days of prayers for the broken-hearted to help us through the tough times. May you cling to God’s promises during these difficult days and find hope in Him alone. 💖
Day 1: Prayer for God’s Comfort
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3
Dear Lord, I come to You today with a heavy heart. I feel pain and heartache, and I need Your help. Please be with me in this time of need and comfort me with Your love. I know that You are the only One who can truly heal my broken heart. Please help me to trust in You and to lean on You for strength to get through what seems insurmountable. I pray that You would give me peace and hope in the midst of my sorrow. Thank You for being my comforter during this difficult time.
Day 2: Prayer for God’s Strength
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
Lord, I am feeling so weak right now and I need Your strength, a strength that only YOU can give. I know that I can’t make it through this difficult time on my own. Please help me to trust in You and lean on You for strength. I pray that You would give me the boldness to face each day and the courage to keep going when everything around me seems to be broken and I cannot fix it. Help me to find comfort in You and Your Word today, Lord. Thank You for being my rock during this intense time of need.
Day 3: Prayer for God’s Peace
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
Heavenly Father, I am feeling anxious and overwhelmed right now. I need Your peace, a peace that only You can give me. Please help me to present my requests to You in prayer, knowing that You will handle things according to Your precious will and to trust that You will work everything out for my own good. I know that Your peace transcends all understanding, so I pray that You would guard my heart and mind during this difficult time. Thank You for being my great peacekeeper.
Day 4: Prayer for God’s Healing
“This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.” – Matthew 8:17
Lord Jesus, I come to You today asking for Your healing. I am feeling broken down, tired, and wounded and I need Your help. Please touch me with Your healing hand and make me whole again, both in body and spirit. I know that You bore my sins and diseases on the cross, so I ask that You would also heal my broken heart, for I am in great pain. A pain so deep I feel like no one could ever even understand it. But you do Lord because you know pain and sorrow also and you see my pain. Please help me to be able to get through this and thank You for being my Healer.
Day 5: Prayer for God’s Presence
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
Lord, I need Your presence right now. My spirit is crushed and my heart is laid broken before You. Please be with me in my time of need and help me to feel Your comforting arms around me, my Heavenly Father. I know that You are close to the brokenhearted, so I ask that You would rescue me from my pain, give me a way of escape, and help me to find hope in You, a hope that does not disappoint. Thank You for being my ever-present God, especially during this gut-wrenching time.
Day 6: Prayer for God’s Love
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
Lord, I feel so unloved right now. It feels like no one cares about me, no one loves me, no one would care if I was dead. I need Your love. Please help me to remember that You love me unconditionally and that You demonstrated that love by sending Your Son, Jesus, to die for my sins, not as a one-time act, but that you show me Your love every single day of my life. I know that I don’t deserve Your love, but that you so graciously give it freely and I am so thankful that You offer it to me anyway, even though I don’t deserve it. Thank You for being my loving Father and for always being there for me, for comforting me in times of pain, and for being near to me in my trials.
Day 7: Prayer for God’s Hope
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” – Romans 15:13
Heavenly Father, feeling hopeless is not something I’d like to feel anymore. I need Your hope. Please help me to trust in You and to know that You are in control. I pray that You would fill me with love, joy, and peace, so that I may overflow with hope. Thank You for being my source of hope. All men, no matter how great or small disappoint me as we are all human, but you never do Lord. I am so thankful that I can come to you with my burdens, to cast them at Your precious feet, knowing You WILL help.
Day 8: Prayer for God’s Joy
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” – James 1:2-3
Lord, I am facing some truly difficult trials right now. I need Your joy. Please help me to consider it pure joy, knowing that these trials are producing perseverance in my faith. I know that You will use these trials to make me stronger and closer to You, a more godly woman. Thank You for being my biggest source of joy.
Day 9: Prayer for God’s Wisdom
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” – James 1:5
Lord, I am feeling so lost and alone right now. I need Your wisdom, not the world’s wisdom, but true wisdom. Your wisdom. Please help me to remember to ask You for wisdom when I lack it. I know that You give generously and without finding fault, so I ask that You would give me the wisdom I need to get through this. Help me to know what to do and to lead my steps on the path that You are leading me on.
Day 10: Prayer for God’s Protection
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1
Heavenly Father, I am scared right about now for many different reasons. My heart is torn in pieces and I’m so downcast. I need Your protection. You are my light and salvation. You are the stronghold of my life. Help me to not be afraid or worrisome and help me to remember that You are always here protecting me, my heart, and will uplift me out of this darkness in Your precious time. Thank You for being my protector.
Day 11: Prayer for God’s Provision
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
Lord, I am feeling like I lack finances right now. I need Your provision. Please help me to remember that You will meet all of my needs according to the riches of Your glory in Christ Jesus. You are my Provider and I can trust You to take care of me, just as you care for the birds in the air who neither reap nor sow. Thank You for being my provider and helping me get through this really rough time. Please make me into the godly woman that you want me to be. Help me to learn how to manage Your money better here on earth so that I may be a testimony to all those around me of your great care.
Day 12: Prayer for God’s Direction
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
Heavenly Father, I am feeling lost right now and in need of Your divine direction. Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path. I know that You will lead me in the right direction if I follow You and trust in You completely, giving up all things in order to follow You wholeheartedly. Thank You for being my good shepherd and leading me each and every day. I’m so thankful that you do because your wisdom and knowledge is far better than anything I could ever even hope to do on my own. You are truly amazing and I’m so grateful You chose me to be your child.
Day 13: Prayer for God’s Forgiveness
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9
Lord, I am feeling guilty right now about a few things and it’s become such a heavy burden to carry. I need Your forgiveness, please, Lord. If I confess my sins, I know that You are faithful and just and will forgive me, though I feel so undeserving of it because I truly messed up in a big way. I know that You will purify me from all unrighteousness if I ask You. God, so I ask you now, please forgive me of all my sins, both unknown and known. Thank You for being my forgiver and dying on the cross for my sins that I may repent to You and be cleaned!
Day 14: Prayer for Self-Worth
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27
Heavenly Father, I need to know that I am made in Your image because I am feeling worthless right now. I feel like nothing I say or do matters. No one seems to be listening to me, no one cares about You or the things I’m trying to teach them. I feel so alone trying to go at the world by myself. I’m truly trying my absolute best, but it just feels helpless and I feel so defeated every day. I don’t wake up with the joy and zeal that I used to have and I know that I can’t be used for Your glory as much as if I DID have that joy back in my life. For that reason Lord, please give me back that joy, that I may be used for You. Please help me to remember that I am made in Your image and that I have inherent worth because of that. I know that You love me and that I am valuable to You. Please make me whole again and love myself. Thank You for valuing me, even when the world seems to despise me.
Day 15: Prayer for a Calm Heart
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
Lord, my heart is racing and I am feeling anxious. I’m trying to calm my spirit but I can’t seem to do it on my own and I need Your peace. Please help me to remember to be still and know that You are God. I know that You will be exalted among the nations and on the earth and that I can trust You to take care of me, even when the world around me seems to be going crazy. Thank You for being my peace, my rock, and my redeemer.
Day 16: Prayer for Renewal
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
Heavenly Father, I pray for Your renewal. I am feeling worn out right now. I feel like I can’t even move a muscle without the strains of life holding me down. I am oppressed and I hate my oppressor. Please help me to forgive my oppressor and not hold any bitterness toward them who make my life miserable. I am tired. I am in desperate need of healing to continue walking in Your precious light, Lord. Please help me to remember that if I am in Christ, I am a new creation. The old has gone and the new is here. I know that You will renew me and give me strength the more I take refuge in You. Help me to set more time aside for just You in order that I be renewed. I am desperate for your tender love and mercies, Lord. Thank You for being my constant renewer and for giving me rest.
Day 17: Prayer for the Broken-Hearted
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
Dear God, my heart is broken and I feel like I can’t go on. I’m flat on the ground and I need Your help to make it through. I know that You love me and that You care about what I’m going through. I trust You to heal my broken heart and make me whole again, as only You can. I give You all of my pain and hurt. I release my fears and worries to You, knowing that they are in truly capable hands. I know that You will make everything right in Your time, whenever that shall be and I pray for patience to endure through this in the meantime. Thank You for being right there with me through this difficult time. I praise and thank You, Almighty God, for Your great love and care for me.
Day 18: Prayer for Renewed Love
“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13
Lord, my love has grown cold. I am without feeling at all. Just numb in areas I don’t want to be numb in. I don’t want to feel this way anymore. I feel like I’m just going through the motions just to get through the day. I want to be happy again. I need Your renewing love. Please help me to remember that faith, hope and love remain, and that the greatest of these is love. I know that You will renew my love and make it strong again for Your sake and for the testimony of Your saint. Thank You for being there for me and walking through this with me.
Day 19: Prayer for a New Beginning
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” – John 1:1
Heavenly Father, I am feeling like I need a new beginning. You are the Word and You are with me always. I know that You will give me a new beginning. Take me up in your arms, comfort me, and help me remember that life doesn’t stop here, that you have a special purpose for me here on earth. Guide me as I make a step in the direction you’ve set out before me. Thank You for being my Lord and Savior.
Day 20: Prayer for Understanding
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
Heavenly Father, I pray for Your understanding and clarity through this difficult time in my life. I’m not sure I completely understand everything, bcause I do feel confused in a few areas. I know that Satan likes to make Your believers confused and I pray that you protect me from him. Help me to either understand things or to completely let go of them. Thank You for being my rock and my salvation, Lord.
Day 21: Prayer for Release
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;” – Isaiah 61:1
Dear God, I feel like I can’t breathe; like I’m trapped right now. Bind up my broken heart, dear Lord, and release me from my darkness. Set me free, God. Only You can. Free from these chains I feel like I’m in. I feel like I’m in prison with no escape. Let them disappear right now in your holy name and for Your glory. Thank You for being my deliverer. Let me walk as a free man today. Break these chains that hold me down, Lord. Let me be free in You.
Day 22: Prayer for a New Day
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24
Heavenly Father, I am feeling like I need a fresh start; a brand new day. Keep my thoughts on You, dear Lord, in remembering that this is the day the You have made and that I can rejoice and be glad in it. I know You will give me a new day, the old day is sloughed off, and please inspire love and hope within this new day. Thank You for being my hope and my joy through the midst of such uncertain circumstances.
Day 23: Prayer for Restoring My Spirit
“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5
Heavenly Father, I am feeling broken right now. I pray You restore my spirit. I feel like I can’t go on. Restore me and make me whole again. I am in need of Your gracious touch. You were wounded for our transgressions and by Your stripes, we are healed. I trust You to restore my body, my mind, and my soul so that I can continue to live my best for You. Give me the spirit of fulfillment like a new child looking forward to a new day with abundance. Thank You for being my amazing redeemer in whom I trust.
Day 24: Prayer for My Vulnerability
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” – Psalm 91:1
Lord, I am feeling vulnerable right now. I need Your protection. Please help me to remember that You are the Most High and that I can abide under the shadow of your wings. I know that You will protect me from harm, but sometimes, it’s hard to believe when I see so much harm and animosity coming my way because of Your name. I am attacked because I love you. I am held captive because you are my God. I am suffering because I have chosen You alone, Lord and this wears on me year after year, day after day. I’m tired and I feel alone. Please strengthen me and help me to walk again in Your precious sight that I may glorify You with my life. Thank You for being my refuge and my fortress.
Day 25: Prayer for Grief
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4
Heavenly Father, please help me to remember that You bless those who mourn and that I will be comforted. I know that You will bring me through this time of mourning in Your time, but it feels so hard to wait for that time to come. I am feeling grief right now. Deep despair and I sorely need Your comfort, the comfort that only You can give. Thank You for being my comforter, for loving me, for saving me, for dying for me. You are amazing, Lord.
Day 26: Prayer for When I Feel All Alone
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5
Lord, help me to remember that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Even when it feels like You are not there, show me that You are. I know that You are with me always, though I am feeling all alone right now. I need Your presence here with me, Lord, as I go through this difficult season in my life. I know that without You, I will not be able to make it through. I need you every moment, day by day and I pray that you continue to show me that you’re there and strengthen me. Hide me in the shadows of your wings and protect me. Thank You for being my greatest companion through it all, Lord.
Day 27: Prayer for Safeguarding My Heart
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7
Heavenly Father, I am feeling like my heart is in need of Your protection. Safeguard my heart from further hurt and pain. Please help me to remember that You are my Shepherd and that I shall not want. I know that You will lead me through this dark valley, though it feels impossible at times. Please keep my strength up, please keep my hope alive in order that I continue walking through this deep valley. Help me to know the mountain top is coming soon and to keep my eyes focused on that in order that I make it through. Thank You for being my Good Shepherd.
Day 28: Prayer for When I Need Strength
“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
Lord, I need Your strength for I am feeling weak in my heart. My spirit is downcast and I need Your strength to carry me through. I can’t make it without You. Please help me to remember that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I know that You will give me the strength I need to get through this because it is promised in Your Word. Thank You for being my strength, hope, and redeemer.
Day 29: Prayer for a Humble Heart
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,” – 1 Peter 5:6
Heavenly Father, please help me to humble myself under Your mighty hand. I know that You will exalt me in due time. I trust in Your timing. Please help me to be able to continue to trust in Your timing. Do not forget me in the meantime, Lord as I wait for Your timing to unfold. Help me to walk in humility toward others who are broken-hearted as well and become a comfort to them because I, myself, have known the deepest kinds of pain known to man and I do not forget it so easily. Thank You for being my humble King.
Day 30: Prayer for When I Need to Be Still
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” – Psalm 46:10
Lord, I am feeling restless right now. I would like to be still and present in the day instead of it feeling like a whirlwind all around me. Help me to take a look around in gratitude – with clear eyes and a clear mind – for all that I am, thanks to You. Give me the peace I need to get through today and the remainder of this trial, however long that should be. Thank You for being my Prince of Peace.
If you are feeling broken-hearted, know that you are not alone. The Bible is full of stories of God’s people who have gone through similar things. Jesus Himself was broken-hearted while on earth and God is broken hearted in Heaven when we reject Him and for the lost. Take heart, knowing that God is with you and will never leave you. He understands your pain. Spend some time in prayer, asking for healing and strength to carry on.
