I remember being a new Christian and being so confused about things. People would use big words like sanctification or atonement and I struggled with them. It was like, immediately I was a believer and just expected to know all this stuff. I have to admit, that even though I grew up in church all my life (false believers), I still didn’t know a lot.
The good thing is that God called me aside to Himself and really taught me, personally, through situations, circumstances, and His Word. I learned and learned and learned some more and while no one can or ever will know it all, I’ve learned a lot and really ENJOY learning about Him. He is amazing, isn’t He?! 💖
The depths of learning about Him never end here on earth and the more I get to know Him, the more I fall emphatically in love with Him.
So if you’re feeling like you just don’t know what all these heavy things are, you are not alone! Don’t be intimidated. Just learn one thing at a time and grow. 😊
What is the power of the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is God so the power of the Holy Spirit is also the power of God. He (the Holy Spirit) isn’t a mystical force; He is part of the Trinity – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are the same God – the Holy Spirit’s role involves things like comforting, guiding, directing, teaching, and leading us.
Depending on how long you’ve been a Christian – Acts 1:8 is the verse that probably comes to mind most quickly when you think of the power of the Holy Spirit. It says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Like God, the Holy Spirit lives inside us. So what the power of the Holy Spirit refers to or means is that we always have access to the power of God to help us (lead, guide, comfort, teach, etc.). Think of it in terms of sharing your faith with others. His power in us is how we can have complete courage as we move about the earth to share and spread the gospel (in whatever capacity we’ve been given).
The power of the Holy Spirit is also what allows us to grow and mature spiritually and to become more Christ-like. It’s also how unbelieving people can be transformed in an instant – because the power of the Holy Spirit (the power of God) opened their eyes. Just like you went from unbelieving to becoming a new Christian believer! His power is extraordinary and is something we should praise and thank God regularly and continually for giving us!
Truly, He is GOOD and His power is unceasing!
