If you’ve ever lost someone, you know how hard the grieving process can be.
Maybe you’ve lost a child to sin or perhaps through a miscarriage.
Maybe you’ve lost a parent. They left earth way too early.
Perhaps you’re a single mom like me, having lost her husband and whole world all in one day.
Maybe you’ve lost a job or an opportunity for a promotion you really wanted passed you by.
Maybe you’ve recently lost a friend, who turned her back on you for no good reason or perhaps she believed a lie about you and left.
Maybe this marks the anniversary of a long-time pet you’ve lost and you still remember all the wonderful times you had together.
Whatever your loss is, whether big or small, it’s a big deal. It’s a big deal to you and it’s a big deal to God, who cares deeply about you.
When Jesus walked the earth, He experienced loss too. I think the most gut-wrenching has to be the loss of Judas.
We know Judas is a bad guy and so did God, but to be betrayed by your own disciple. After spending all that time with him, training him, wanting the best for him, loving him, caring about him, meeting his needs, to just be betrayed in the end, and for what? Money! Money was definitely something Jesus never worried about. It had to be difficult for Him to go through. It had to be painful. He doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9).
David knew that type of grief too. He says in Psalm 55:12-14, it would be okay if it were an enemy who taunts him, but this was his very close companion, an equal.
Suffering loss is hard and it hurts, but thankfully we can turn to Scripture to heal our pain and help walk us through the grieving process.
God is close to those who are brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), so while it’s not something we pray for, being brokenhearted comes with fruit, with joy. We get to be close to our Heavenly Father, who wraps His loving arms around us and hides us in the shadow of His wings just at the moment we need it.
These 30 grief Bible verses will not only show you that others have grieved too and that you’re not alone in your pain, but that thee’s an amazing Comforter waiting to hold your hand and see you through it!
