Are You Feeling Disappointed?

Are you feeling disappointed?

Maybe because things are so overpriced right now, your hard-earned money is not going as far as it used to.

Maybe things you did in the past, like selling, were working and now because of the economy change, it no longer is.

Maybe yesterday you got so disappointed in your kids and how they SHOULD be behaving, because you’ve invested in them their whole lives to have good character, but they sure are showing their ugly side right now.

Maybe your husband let you down. He said he’d do something for the fifteenth billion time and never ended up happening. You don’t want to fight or argue, but you just wish he’d do what he said he would.

Maybe a friend disappointed you. Maybe someone lied about you, saying untrue things. Maybe your character is on the line.

Whatever you’re struggling with in your disappointment, you can rest assured that you are not alone.

I can just imagine Jesus when He was on earth. Being disappointed that while He was facing death (by a terrible death- lots of suffering involved), His closest friends kept falling asleep instead of praying for Him.

Or how much He was disappointed in Judas for betraying Him (even though He knew it would happen, I’m sure He still felt the painful sting of it).

God knows how you feel. He is disappointed in US TOO, so often. We fail. We mess up. We run from Him. We fall down. Maybe in that moment we just don’t want Him. Maybe we are not living our lives to the fullest of what He has ordained us to do.

There’s definitely a LOT of disappointment all around. From every angle, on every level. And while it IS important to process through our feelings, we know that we cannot STAY there.

Listen, you’ve been disappointed and discouraged for a while. For a long time now you’ve felt completely helpless and feeling like there’s absolutely no hope at all. You can’t change anything and so you want to give up. Just go through the motions for a while.

It reminds me of Jeremiah. He would have rather stayed in the wilderness than to be around the moral pollution he was surrounded by. You can imagine him feeling SO disappointed in the people he was trying to bring God’s message to. No one was listening. He couldn’t change them or the situation. And it stunk.

Maybe you’re sitting there right now, feeling the same way. I can’t change anything. I can’t change the people or the situation.

But there’s hope!!!!

Listen, whatever season you’re in is just that!

👉 It’s a SEASON.

There’s ebb and flow for everything and right now, you’re in a season of ebb. It stinks. It’s no fun. But it WILL NOT LAST!

In fact, Ecclesiastes 3 SAYS it won’t last!

When I was homeless, it was one of the worst times of my life and it DIDN’T LAST! I got out of the homeless shelter. I put one foot in front of the other. I made a life for myself. I accept Christ as my Savior. I gave Him my whole life and look where He’s brought me. WOW! Just WOW! 😮🤯

ONLY a good and gracious God could do all that!!!! And that same God who took care of me all those years ago, that same God who sustains me today and has become my best friend and biggest advocate, is also there for you today, in this moment.

You don’t HAVE TO feel disappointed anymore.

Feeling disappointed and discouraged, hear me, is a CHOICE.

You can chose to move on and do the things that you CAN control. And you CAN still control some things, can you not?

Can you still get out of bed with a happy attitude despite the situation you’re in? Psalm 46 says you can.

Can you still love on the people around you, even when you’re not feeling your best? Of course. You do it when you’re on your monthly cycle (which is tough!) why not now?!?!

Can you still find comfort in the words of a stranger? Sure you can.

God didn’t cause all these things to happen and then take off and leave us all alone. He’s here with us. He cannot let sin go unpunished and so things HAVE to happen. He’s showing the world that He’s not okay with the stuff people are doing.

Because He loves us, He’s showing us. He’s SHOWING US He’s there!!!

Because He’s gracious, He’s still here.

Because He’s kind, He comforts us.

Listen, most people are hurting right now. In one way or another, for one reason or another. And it’s now more important than ever, for us to all band together under a common name (Jesus) and strengthen both ourselves and others!

Right now, I’m going through THE most painful life experiences I’ve ever dealt with. Things that make my homeless situation and all that pain and heartache look like CAKE. And one day, you’ll know it all and you’ll see it all and you’ll understand what I mean by that. But right now, in the midst of horrific pain, heartbreak, trials, and problems (none of which are or have been as a result of my own actions) I’m still sitting here encouraging YOU rather than running and sobbing in the corner.

Why? Because my God is good.

Because God is here.

Because God loves us.

Because God doesn’t leave us.

Because He cares.

He sees you where you are. He knows your pain and He wants to help. Will you trust Him with your deepest pain today? Because honestly, you continuing to carry it alone is not helping you. You just sink further and further into despair.

God has sent me to help you!!! Do you realize that?

You’re not here by some accident. You’re reading this right now, because HE wants you to hear His words of comfort to your soul right now! 💯

He cares! He’s here. He loves you, precious friend.

And there is nothing in the world that can ever stop that…except YOU.

Will you push Him away or will you let Him in so that He can take care of your situation and comfort you and love on you like no one else on this planet can?

It’s your choice. You get to decide. No one else can decide for you. Only you.
