There had to be a million questions and thoughts racing through her mind as the angel stood before Mary and told her that she was going to conceive Jesus. Surely she thought about Joseph and how he would take the news. Would he believe her? She must have known that she would be mocked, persecuted, made fun of, lied about, and her character tarnished.
I love her simple response, “Behold, the Lord’s bond-servant; may it be done to me according to your word.” (NASB Luke 1:38)
She didn’t fight or run away. Her answer to the angel was quick, decisive, and godly.
She knew that her life belongs to the Lord, that He alone knows best, that He would take care of her in the midst of whatever happened, and she decided to obey God, not caring what anyone else thought or did.
The truth is, that there’s only ONE person we answer to…God.
When He leads us through His word, do we run away like Jonah…or do we acknowledge that our lives are NOT our own…they were bought with a price.
We belong to Jesus Christ. 💎💖🎉💯
It doesn’t really matter what the world says. The world will never change…but you know what…neither does God! And HE says, He loves you. HE says, He knows best, even when things seem crazy.
Because faith isn’t obeying God when everything makes sense and we have all the answers…faith is obeying God when it doesn’t make sense!
Every day, I want to ask myself…
Today, am I being like Mary or Jonah?
Am I having faith or am I running away from Him?
At the end of my life, prayerfully, I have more days that I’m like Mary than I’m like Jonah. Let’s pray together that we do! 🥰
