Two years ago today, I took the password off my site and opened it up to the world. I had NO clue what I was in for. I just wanted to help people around the world be able to stay home with their kids, like I have been able to do as a single mom. It wasn’t about money for me, I was already making a good living on eBay, enough to pay all my bills and some. Enough to have a comfortable life. But, I felt like there was more out there. Like I could do more GOOD in the world and make a bigger impact than just selling toys. Yes, they are meaningful to kids everywhere, but, a toy can’t change a life. A toy can’t put a family back together.
That’s what I wanted. I wanted to be home with my kids and was rocking it. I wanted to show others that they could do the same. Within a year, nearly a million in traffic per month would be coming to SarahTitus.com. I would go from making a few thousand dollars a month on eBay, to making $10,000/month blogging. I gave up selling full-time on eBay and continued working on the blog full-time. More than full-time actually; I was working it 80+ hours a week!
This month, I’m still very consistent in traffic. This blog reaches well over 10 MILLION people a month in some way or another, and I’m set to make around $21,000 this month alone in income.
If you would have asked me two years ago, if I thought I could make $5,000/month, I’d say you were crazy. It’s definitely been one wild ride and I feel like I’m just getting started.
I mean, you should have seen my site when I first started…
Here’s one of the first headers I had…
Here was one of my next headers…
This is when I was with Restored 316 for a theme…
Next, I hired a designer off Fiverr to do a few things on my site. He coded the teal navigation bar at the top and I was ecstatic about it. It came out really nice. If you’re wondering where the pink and teal colors come from, I’ve always had those colors on my site. They actually come from my time selling Littlest Pet Shop toys on eBay. Pink and teal have been my two favorite colors for YEARS!
After that, I had my amazing designer that I have now design my whole site for me. I was really specific in how I wanted to go and she listened and really made it quite beautiful. That was not long after I appeared on the Rachael Ray show.
My site has morphed quite a bit over the years. This was my previous look…
And here it is today. On this design, I went with a full screen (width-wise) design. You’ll see a lot less magazine-like site now as I’m focusing 100% on epic content. Content that blows everything else out of the water. In fact, I’ve already gone through and deleted over 300 old posts that didn’t live up to that, am redoing all the rest of the posts (this will take me through the end of 2016), as well as deleted a lot of pictures off the site. I want to focus on super meaty posts and it’s something you guys have come to demand,,,and I love it!
That’s two years in a nutshell. What’s next for SarahTitus.com? I wrote a post all about it, which you can see here.
And today, we celebrate my birthday in style!
First, if you’ve been following along, we’ve been playing a guessing game.
When I first started blogging, like seriously that next full month, I released my first book and to this day, it is a huge failure. Not ONE single sale EVER. I want you to know that hugely successful people, also DO see failure. But, we don’t give up, we keep going….and make a contest about it. LOL!
The riddle posted was:
What was my first ebook about? What topic was it about?
