Several years ago now, I was watching a movie by Pure Flix called The Encounter with my ex-husband. It’s not a Bible-based movie, more of a thought-provoking fictional story about Jesus coming to Earth to show Himself to some people at a diner. Through the movie, some believe in Him, and some do not.
There is one actor in the movie who plays the “bad” guy and sees Jesus face to face and then totally rejects what He has to offer.
I think that a lot of times, we think about Judas and we say, “I’m not like him…I’d never deny Jesus.” And then we do. In the little areas of our life, sometimes, where no one else sees…but God does.
It happened on that day, that my then husband turned to me and said, “I’m him….I’m that man,” referring to the “bad” guy…I didn’t get it at the time. I thought to myself, why would you possibly come to a full knowledge of saving faith and walk away?!?! It didn’t make any sense. Why would someone chose that. Knowing when they die, they will go to the lake of fire. He said to me, “I’m not elect. I don’t want it.”
It wasn’t that long after that, he asked me to give up Christ and my church or he’d leave.
In that moment…suddenly, I got it. I understood what he meant. I will NEVER forget my words as long as I live, “I will NEVER give up God for YOU or ANYONE ELSE,” I shouted. I admit, I didn’t mean to shout, it just came out so boldly.
The spiritual battle lines were drawn…and he left.
That movie had such a monumental impact on my life, that I won’t forget it…I can’t dare watch the movie again, it’s too painful, but that day, I realized that there are hurting people out there who do pretend to be Christian, who go to church more than you, who claim Christ, who play a good game…but they’re not really saved. Only God knows another person’s heart, but sometimes, in those moments, we see the heart of another. They fully reject and we see that Judas-like people are all around us.
Today, I’m thankful he left. I have a beautiful life, great friends, wonderful kids, an amazing church, and many people who love me just as I am…a sinner in need of a Savior. So when Pure Flix came to me and asked me to be an expert interviewer in their panel, I jumped at the opportunity. I knew exactly who the company was, because of that movie…because of my experience.
I’m proud to tell you that my interview has been published and what is the theme??? Letting your faith guide you in business and at home…in public AND behind closed doors. My faith is on this blog. I won’t take it off. Though many have asked, it’s a waste of their time. Because I’m not willing to give up God for my ex-husband or anyone else. God led me to start this blog, He leads me and guides me in my personal life and in business as I seek Him out daily to follow Him and His precepts.
If you’d like to read the interview and get a more in-depth, personal glimpse of my life and what He’s doing in it and some encouragement for you along your own journey, you can check out my expert interview with Pure Flix here.
