The holidays are officially here!
At my house that means getting to spend more time with my family, hosting family get-togethers, and one of my favorite holiday traditions—baking.
Between the hosting and the family time, there just isn’t always enough hours in the day to get to the holiday baking.
If this sounds like you too, then homemade Salted Caramel Magic Bars will be your new best friend. They are super easy to make and will be your go to dessert!
Salted Caramel Magic Bars Recipe
These bars taste like you’ve spent much more time preparing them than you actually do. The crust is only two ingredients and the rest of the ingredients are spread over the top.
Salted Caramel Magic bars are adaptable too.
There are tons of variations of magic cookie bars out there, so you can switch up the ingredients to your own personal taste and include as many layers as you like.
This combination of chocolate, sea salt caramel, and crunchy pretzels is the way to go, though, if you are looking to satisfy that salty sweet craving.
Ingredients:
- 1 package chocolate cake mix
- ½ cup butter, melted
- ½ bag dark chocolate chips {I use Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate chips}
- ½ bag white chocolate chips
- ½ bag butterscotch chips
- ½ bag Heath Bit O’ Brickle toffee chips
- 8 oz caramels (I used Kraft Candy Kitchen Sea Salt Caramels for this recipe)
- 2 Tbsp milk
- 1 ½ C shredded coconut
- 1 ½ C pretzels, broken into small pieces
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- Coarse sea salt (optional, if you don’t use salted caramel)
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Mix the cake mix and melted butter, then press firmly and evenly into a 15 by 11 inch sheet pan.
Step 3: Sprinkle dark, white, butterscotch, and heath chips evenly over the cake mixture.
Step 4: Microwave caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds. Stir and repeat until the caramel is completely melted. Drizzle over the top.
Step 5: Sprinkle shredded coconut over the caramel.
Step 6: Add pretzels to the top.
Step 7: Drizzle with sweetened condensed milk.
Step 8: Bake for 20-25 minutes. The bars are done when they start to turn golden brown around the edges. Cool before cutting into squares.
