I’ve been studying Mary and Joseph lately in a much more deeper way. Such a beautiful story, in so many ways!
It’s been said before how lucky Mary and Joseph must have been to have a perfect son.
When they asked Him to obey, how quick He would have been to obey them.
But I’d like to challenge you to view the story a little differently…
Tonight, I said something to my children…that I knew was an errant statement as a teachable moment type thing. Sort of like testing them to see if they called me on it.
Sure enough, my son was quick to correct my error and explain why. 😊
And it reminded me of how it must have been, living with a perfect person.
How HUMBLE Mary and Joseph must have been ALL…THE…TIME, seeing and knowing their sins and flaws and feeling so inadequate to raise such a man, who was God.
Just being in His presence at all times like that must have been so difficult for them.
Because when we sin, when we fail, when we fall down, we feel bad. We don’t want to sin. We don’t want to hurt our God. And yet, we fall and we do.
Truly, they were blessed to raise the Messiah, but perhaps for another reason…perhaps it was because they were shaped and molded into being like THEIR SON in such a way that would cause great rejoice and also…great humility! One of the most beautiful characteristics in my opinion, and something not often seen in our world today.
I’m thankful for my son calling me on my error, as he is very well known for. It keeps me accountable to stay on the right path. Our kids guide us and shape us too…IF we have open communication and let them teach us!
